BioPAT® Fundalux 12 mm for 1L UniVessel® OPL 10 mm: BioPAT® Fundalux is an absorption-based photometric probe that uses infrared light to measure turbidity in bioreactors. A precisely defined and constant LED light beam passes through the process medium on both sides of the probe shaft. Its hermetically sealed photodiode reveals a weakening of light intensity, which occurs when light is absorbed by cell mass, dissolved compounds, and insoluble material. The optical path length with a constant direct beam of 180° (OPL) allows maximum utilization of the intensity of LED light. Changes in the detected light intensity are caused by different degrees of absorption of the material in the medium. Because BioPAT® Fundalux operates on the principle of permeability in the NIR range, it is not affected by color changes in the culture medium. As a result, the probe accurately and continuously measures the concentration of total biomass during the process.
