HA Ultrogel® | Mixed-Mode Chromatography Resins

HA Ultrogel® is a composite material made of cross-linked agarose and microcrystalline hydroxyapatite embedded within an agarose matrix. This material exhibits mixed-mode functionality based on cation exchange and metal affinity from the hydroxyapatite structure. Its broad range of applications includes protein, peptide, and nucleic acid separation, from laboratory to production scale.

HA Ultrogel® resin is a hydroxyapatite-agarose composite resin designed for biomolecule separation from research to production scale. Hydroxyapatite chromatography is considered "pseudo-affinity" chromatography or "mixed-mode" ion exchange. It has been proven as an effective purification mechanism across various processes, providing biomolecule selectivity that complements traditional ion exchange or hydrophobic interaction techniques.

Features & Benefits:

  • Unique selectivity and separation mechanism, complementary to traditional IEX and HIC
  • Protein purification under neutral conditions without denaturation
  • High porosity and easy cleaning

Applications:

  • Purification of human serum proteins
  • Purification of basic proteins, phosphate-dependent proteins and enzymes, and DNA-dependent enzymes
  • Vaccine purification processes, e.g., Bordetella pertussis toxin
  • Separation of plant proteins such as lectins, glycoproteins, glycosidases, phospholipases, sulfohydrolases, sphingomyelinases, transferases, trehalases, and kinases
